Klingons love me, baby! My custom Klingon hair weapons from Out Numbered Novelties.
Hi! Yes, I henna my hair every six weeks or so. I use body art quality henna from mehandi.com and mix the ground henna leaf with water and lemon juice and let it release its dye, waiting perhaps four hours before I apply it. I try to keep the henna on for six hours, but sometimes that’s tough! I wash it out with water only. I loved the “Dark of the Moon” henna, but it is now gone, alas. I am now using “Celebration” and like it. The Dark of the Moon gave me more of a purple which I adored, as opposed to Celebration’s more chestnutty hue.
I wash with water once a week, sometimes once every ten days to two weeks. I don’t have any curl in my hair, just a very slight body wave, and the henna doesn’t seem to affect that. Since my hair is so fine, the henna does give it a little more presence, I think.
If I didn’t henna, I would have two inch-wide skunk streaks of gray, one at my forehead, and the other sprouting at a weird location halfway down the back of my head! My natural color is a medium brunette. My hair does well with henna. I have only used henna for 8 years, so other than the henna, I have virgin hair.
Right this minute I have about an inch of roots, so it is getting time for the next henna application. I’ll take pix - before, during, and after - when I henna, most likely next weekend.
Wee little dragonfly clips along double braids.
I’ve had a rough couple of days, sorry for the lack of posting.
Have to attend a PTO meeting after school, so I decided I better get rid of the ultra messy bun and do something nice! Here’s a french twist, but I’m still having trouble with it as my hair is a smidge too long to do it the usual way. So the poof at the top is extra poofy. I look like Ivana Trump. The hair toy is a pretty little silver dragon french twist thingie by Bijoux Manoel. I *heart* Bijoux Manoel and have several of her gorgeous french twist thingies as well as some dainty little enameled hair pins.
Yes, I shall say it again. I am a hair toy ‘ho!
I have an awesome interview with Rich Fasel of Out Numbered Novelties that I will post at my hair toy blog in the morning! Rich rocks! He’s making me custom Klingon hair stick weapons! How awesome is that?!
My hair is about four inches from my waist now, and some of the styles I had become accustomed to creating are getting more and more difficult. My hair is very fine, but I have a good amount of it. In the hair forums lingo, it would be classified as 1b/F/ii. My usual French twist method is vexing me. I have to start reconsidering my updos and figuring out how to make them look nice with a bit longer length. Funny how just an inch or two can throw you off kilter!
I should be firmly at waist by my birthday in December. I am growing fairytale ends as I began this crazy hair journey with a one-inch pixie and haven’t trimmed a thing except for my bangs in all of this time. My hemline doesn’t look ragged or weird, though, it just looks natural. I like it.
Three years ago I would have said I hated my hair. The fineness made me feel like I couldn’t do a damn thing with it. But now that it is getting longer, I love my hair. What was a curse has become a strength. I can do many updos that folks with thicker hair can’t accomplish until they reach longer lengths. And the fineness gives my hair a lot of shine and smoothness.
